Dying teacher travels across the US to see if he made a difference
12/24/2012After years of surgeries, chemo and radiation, English teacher David Menasche is losing his battle with cancer. Aware he has only months to live, the Miami educator has departed on a unique cross-country journey. The items on his bucket list? Visit old students and ask them one question: "Did I make a difference?" Sleeping on sofas and sharing old memories, Menasche has already visited 50 students in 12 cities — and he's still going strong. You're never sure, he says, if you've been successful as a teacher, and he wants to know before he dies if he used his time well. Based on the enthusiastic reaction of the students Menasche has visited, it certainly sounds like he did. [Source]
