The U.S. territory is being overrun with brown tree snakes -- some 2 million -- that have decimated the populations of other critters on the Pacific island. The latest effort to rid the isle of its slithery pestilence involves dropping dead mice loaded up with painkillers from helicopters. Yes, this is an actual plan dreamed up by scientists. The idea is that the mice will get stuck in jungle foliage, and the snakes will die from eating the med-stuffed rodents. [Source]
