Dead Utah guy uses obituary to confess his wrongs
7/18/2012Friends of the late Val Patterson, who died last week of throat cancer, were shocked by what they found in his obituary. The deceased doctorate confessed, in his self-written obit, that he received his degree by mistake. His PhD, awarded by the University of Utah, only came about because someone put a receipt into the wrong stack when he was paying off his student loan at college. In fact, Patterson admits he didn’t even graduate. His obit also contains a confession to stealing a business' safe in June 1971, as well as a message to Disneyland and SeaWorld San Diego: "you can now throw away that 'Banned for Life' file you have on me, I'm not a problem anymore."
