And it begins: Oregon election worker admits altering 2 ballots
11/6/2012Yes, your vote counts, unless your ballot's been thrown in the trash because an election worker tampered with it. That's the plight of multiple ballots in Clackamas County, Ore., after election worker Deanna Swenson, 55, was caught filling in Republican straight tickets for voters who'd chosen not to vote in certain races. Swenson was immediately relieved of her duties, but she seems to have a lack of understanding of the voting process, tearfully telling a reporter it was "only the two" she'd tweaked. Tough luck, Swenson. Not only have you stripped two citizens of their right to be counted, but you could face a five-year stint in prison and a fine of up to $125,000. [Source]
