Death row convict claims innocence as obesity bid fails to satisfy
11/30/2012Having unsuccessfully tried the novel "Too fat to execute" defense, 480-pound convicted killer Ronald Post is trying a more conventional "I didn't do it" approach in a fresh bid to delay his January 16 execution. Condemned to death over the shooting murder of a woman desk clerk in 1983, Post now claims accounts of his confession have been exaggerated. While still admitting he was "complicit" in the robbery of the Elyria, Ohio, hotel, he insists he stayed outside. But the prosecutor, pointing to testimony and Post's original no contest plea, said the "brand new claim" was groundless. Might be time to start dreaming up that last meal, Ron. [Source]
