Death row killer schemed to kill himself with oysters

7/2/2012

Connecticut death row inmate Steven Hayes would have preferred to perish from oysters than lethal injection. That's why the condemned man who was involved in the horrific July 2007 Cheshire home invasion murders of a mother and her two daughters falsely admitted to 17 other killings and a series of date rapes. The demented Hayes had hoped police would so badly want him to furnish additional details of the fake crimes that they'd make a trade - in which case, he planned to ask for oysters, which he's deathly allergic to. Hayes, 49, went to such lengths as showing authorities love notes non-existent girls wrote to their non-existent loved ones. Hayes finally confessed that it was all a ruse.
