CNN anchor wonders aloud if asteroids are caused by global warming
2/12/2013Let's hope that CNN anchor Deb Feyerick has an extremely dry sense of humor. When introducing a segment with Bill Nye the Science Guy, Feyerick tried to set him up by talking about the upcoming near-miss with asteroid 2012 DA14, asking Nye, "What's coming our way? Is this [asteroid] an effect of, perhaps, global warming? Or is this just some meteoric occasion?" Nye tries to save her with a garbled, slightly embarrassing explanation about how the roots of the words "meteor" (which is, in any case, a different thing from an asteroid) and "meteorology" are the same.
