'Unidentified substance' spotted at Gulf oil-spill site (uh-oh)

12/19/2012

The wrecked Deepwater Horizon oil rig may be in trouble again. A recent inspection of the site of BP's massive 2010 oil leak has turned up what the Coast Guard is calling an "unidentified substance inconsistent with oil." It's unclear where the mysterious substance is coming from or how much of it has leaked, though further inspections and testing are in progress. "Next steps are being considered as we await the lab results of the surface and subsurface samples and more detailed analysis of the video shot during the mission," a Coast Guard official said. In the meantime, you might want to avoid ordering the six-headed gulf shrimp. [Source]
