A ban on smoking in the workplace is one thing, but a ban on the smokers themselves? Delray Beach, Fla., is putting the kibosh on hiring workers who use tobacco products. That's right: Smokers of cigarettes, cigars and pipes, as well as those who indulge in the occasional pinch of snuff, need not apply for any city jobs. Well, you can apply, but you're not getting the job. Smokers who already have jobs with the city won't lose them, but because they burn up more city funds in health and disability costs, they have to pay higher insurance premiums.
