Oregon pol says he could have stopped Sandy Hook shooting with his gun
12/17/2012Here's what NOT to say after a horrifically sad school shooting that claimed the lives of 20 children, as well as school staffers who tried to protect them: that you totally could have stopped it. Someone should have told that to Oregon Rep. Dennis Richardson before he sent an email to local school superintendents hours after the tragedy occurred, calling it "preventable" and a "heartbreaking failure" of school personnel. "If I had been a teacher or the principal at the Sandy Hook Elementary School and if the school district did not preclude me from having access to a firearm ... most of the murdered children would still be alive, and the gunman would still be dead," he wrote. So sensitive. [Source]
