Deputy fired for making prison inmates dance for privileges
5/3/2012Most people agree prison inmates should have to work in order to gain privileges to things like microwave and phone use, but an Ohio sheriff's deputy was fired for taking it too far when he made inmates dance on command to Usher's "Yeah!" in order to enjoy these simple luxuries. One inmate told investigators that Deputy Dominic Martucci made him perform the robot to the hip-hop track in order to use a phone to call relatives when a family member died. Others say he made them perform the worm in order to regain microwave access, which had been taken away earlier in the day. Martucci, who said he was just trying to "lighten the tension" in the jail, is expected to appeal his firing.
Is forcing inmates to dance inhumane?
