Derp Fuhrer: WWI postcard shows Hitler couldn't spell
5/2/2012After seeing Hitler's spelling mistake, we're all "More like DERP Fuhrer, right? Right?" In a postcard he wrote while recovering from a World War I leg injury, Hitler added an extra "f" to "sofort," the German word for "immediately," so of course we're making a huge deal out of it. The card was recently revealed as part of a European Union-funded WWI history project and, despite the innocuous subject matter (his recent dental appointment) and incorrect sofort-ing, the artifact still unsettled the Oxford University professor who authenticated it. "I felt a shudder run through me," Dr. Stuart Lee said. "I was touching something that Hitler had touched. Everything rushes through your mind."
