Edward Peters, who teaches Catholic canon law at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, wrote in a blog post last week that "Catholics who promote 'same-sex marriage' act contrary to [Catholic law] … and should not approach for Holy Communion. … They also risk having Holy Communion withheld from them ... being rebuked and/or being sanctioned." The archbishop of Detroit, Allen Vigneron, piped in on Sunday that Catholics who receive Holy Communion and support gay marriage "logically bring shame for a double-dealing that is not unlike perjury." You know, we can handle all this rebuking, but it's the "double-dealing" slur that really hurts. Reminds us too much of double-dipping. People who double-dip are the worst. [Source]
