Cafeteria worker is fired, then rehired for giving needy kid free food
12/15/2012Justice has been served for Dianne Brame. The cafeteria manager at a Missouri elementary school, Brame was fired after her boss learned she had been sneaking free meals to a fourth grader who couldn't afford to buy them. Because of a language barrier, the boy failed to reapply for a free lunch program, so Brame covertly fed him. When her supervisor found out, Brame — who lost her home and car after her husband died in February — was told to quit or be demoted and transferred. Brame, who said she knew she had violated the protocol, opted to be fired. But after St. Louis TV station KTVI reported the story, she was rehired due to the huge viewer response. [Source]
