Dick Cheney's daughter marries longtime girlfriend

Dick Cheney's daughter, Mary, married her longtime partner, Heather Poe, in Washington, D.C. on Friday. The former vice president, who has expressed his support of gay marriage but calls it a decision that should be left to the states, issued a statement with his wife, Lynne, expressing their joy over their daughter's marriage and relationship. "We are delighted that [Mary and Heather] were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized," the Cheneys' statement said. Currently Washington D.C. and six states grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Cheney and Poe have two children, a 5-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter.
