Disabled vet claims airline kicked his dog, asked if he's 'retarded'
7/23/2012A disabled army veteran says airline staff members were abusive to him and his service dog during a nightmarish three-day delay at Dulles International Airport. According to a now-viral video posted on YouTube, Jim Stanek was flying with his service dog, Sarge, on July 15, when a United Airlines staff member walked by and got startled, kicking the dog. Stanek brushed it off but then it happened again. Later, as he tried to get a hotel voucher, another UA employee asked if he was "retarded" for not being able to stand in line. The man was apparently unaware that Stanek's post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury (TBI), which he acquired after three tours in Iraq, make standing in loud crowds very difficult.
