Distillery uses space station to make better whiskey
4/11/2012Leave it to the Scots to attempt to find a way to make better whiskey in zero gravity. Ardberg Distillery, which has been producing whiskey in Scotland since 1798, recently sent unmatured malt and charred oak particles to the International Space Station, in hopes of determining how the molecules react without gravity. Ardberg is hopeful the experiments will enable them to improve the maturation process of its spirits. Says the company's head of whiskey creation, "We are all tremendously excited by this experiment -- who knows where it will lead?"
What other experiments should be conducted in space?
