Black leaders blast 'Django' dolls as a mockery of slavery

1/10/2013

"Pulp Fiction" action figures were just plain ... weird (yes, there was even one for "The Gimp"). Now African-American activists are peeved because the studio that produced "Django Unchained" has partnered to market six collectible dolls from Quentin Tarantino's latest violent hit. Project Islamic Hope is among the groups planning a demonstration at Sunday's Golden Globes; spokesman Najee Ali protested that "I don't see them making dolls of Holocaust survivors," referencing Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." Fellow director Spike Lee is among those who have denounced the film, though Najee Ali isn't in that camp: He's seen it twice. [Source]
