Nerdy romantic proposes to girlfriend with message written in DNA
12/23/2012Roses and scented candles are romantic and all, but are they really any match for polymerase enzymes and gel electrophoresis? This awesomely nerdy geneticist obviously didn't think so when he scrawled out "Will You Marry Me?" in DNA to propose to his biologist girlfriend. Reddit user gdiguy2, whose adorably geeky proposal went viral Sunday, said the hardest part of his proposal scheme was coming up with an excuse to get her to image his gel in the lab. Minutes after she did, the amorous geneticist showed up outside with flowers. Just goes to show there's nothing like analyzing macromolecules to get you in the mood for love. [Source]
