Stolen dogs returned to owner five years and 1,000 miles later
7/16/2012Brenda Travis didn't answer the out-of-state phone call last week, but when she heard the caller's message, she couldn't dial them back fast enough. An animal shelter in Dallas, Ga., had phoned to tell Travis that they had her bassett hounds, the ones that had been stolen from her Tennessee home five years ago. Thanks to a microchip in one dog's ear, Allie and Bama were traced to Travis, who now lives in Kansas. Even more importantly, thanks to a network of Facebook friends, Allie and Bama were transported over 1,000 miles back to their new, well, old owners. "As soon as they saw us, they came running up," Travis said. Aw, that even makes our tails wag. [Source]
