Mom wants oak trees chopped down so acorns don't kill allergic kids
11/14/2012A Canadian mom is facing online ridicule after launching a campaign to get the oak trees at her child’s school removed. She claims the acorns might pose a deadly threat to students with allergies. Although one doctor said she's never heard of kids having an anaphylactic reaction from acorns (though it could cause hives), and another said the child would have to eat the nut in order to have a serious reaction, Donna Giustizia points to the inconsistency of placing a sign on the door of St. Stephen Catholic Elementary School that declares it "nut-free," while nuts litter the ground.
