Dork spends his 12-hour marriage proposal tweeting

4/16/2012

The way you propose to the one you love says a lot about you and your relationship. Mike Duerksen planned an elaborate day-long adventure revisiting his lady's favorite spots, gifting her with tickets for a hot-air balloon ride and starting a bonfire to lead up to popping the question. Amazing! Romantic! The downside: He seems to have spent most of this most magical of days on the phone, tweeting the experience and encouraging strangers to follow. She did say yes, but the live tweet of what should be one couple's most personal moment seems like a weird disconnect between preserving a memory and actually experiencing it. Is this an epic overshare, a scheme to get followers or a sign of our compulsively connected times?
