Get 'Downton'? Whitest show on TV will introduce black character
2/27/2013The fusty aristocrats of “Downton Abbey" have dealt with Catholics, Irishmen and even (gasp) their American relatives. Soon we may catch a glimpse into their take on race relations. The British press is reporting that the role of musician Jack Ross is being developed as the first black character, a love interest for one of the show’s many females (that’s all we'll say; no spoilers here at msnNOW). Casting notices were sent out to actors’ agents seeking a “black and very handsome” performer, "a real man (not a boy) with charm and charisma." [Source]
