Dumbbell says he shot himself dropping dumbbell on bullet
4/14/2012Finally a real-world story about the dangers of leaving bullets lying around on the floor. A weightlifter in Modesto, Calif., claims that he shot himself in the shoulder after accidentally dropping one of his dumbbells on a .22 caliber bullet. The man told police that the weight of the dumbbell hitting the bullet was strong enough to set off the propellant inside it. Police, using their powers of deduction, found the man's story to be questionable, but closed the case, chalking it up to "suspicious circumstances" after they admitted it wasn't theoretically impossible for something like this to happen. No gun was found in the apartment, according to police, and neighbors did not report seeing anyone leave the man's home.
Do you believe the guy's story?
