Easter egg hunt ends after kid finds a hand grenade instead
4/7/2012It seems that not even the most pastoral of our holiday rituals -- the Easter egg hunt -- is safe anymore. Police in Holford, an English village of about 200 people, had to call in a bomb squad after a father who had his two young girls participating in the preschoolers' event saw a 3-year-old boy standing on what turned out to be a hand grenade. The bomb-disposal squad eventually blew up the device and the area was declared safe, but everyone was understandably shook up. "The boy who was standing on it just thought it was a rock," said Stuart Moffatt, who discovered the grenade. "It could have been a lot worse, especially with children around."
