Screw you, low-carb diets: Daily bread might prevent heart disease
12/1/2012For those who religiously count carbs, you might be doing your heart a disservice. A new study has found that daily bread could prevent cardiovascular diseases. While you shouldn't necessarily gorge on Wheat Thin sandwiches or loaves of ciabatta, researchers at the University of Barcelona found that eating bread (white or wheat) every day can give you a higher lipid profile, which means your body has less bad cholesterol and more good cholesterol. The findings found that subjects who ate bread daily had healthier lipid profiles and lower insulin levels than people who didn't, which meant they were at lower risk for developing cardiovascular diseases.
