Bankrupt zoo only has food for 2 more days, animals could starve
1/22/2013Animals at Naples' Edenlandia zoo can hardly be blamed for Italy's financial crisis, but they could be its latest casualties. Keepers at the already-bankrupt zoo said Monday they're down to their last bananas and bales of hay and have less than 48 hours' worth of food remaining for the exotic creatures — meaning its 300 elephants, giraffes, tigers and other animals could starve to death. Emergency administrators have been running the zoo since 2011, but with their contract expiring on Jan. 31, Edenlandia will become Hellandia for these innocent creatures who have already served a lifetime behind bars if a buyer isn't approved fast.
