Woman bit off man's tongue when he tried to kiss and make up, cops say

2/19/2013

It’s been said that love hurts. For one Illinois man, this aphorism became a painful reality last week. Elaine Cook and her boyfriend of 10 months went out for Valentine’s Day. When they returned to Cook’s apartment in the Chicago suburb of Skokie, the couple got into an argument. As he was leaving, the boyfriend tried to make amends and leaned in for a kiss. And that’s when Cook bit a chunk of his tongue off, prosecutors said. Despite putting the tongue on ice, doctors couldn’t reattach it due to “inadequate blood supply.” Cook has been charged with felony domestic battery, and the boyfriend, unsurprisingly, says he has trouble sleeping at night since the alleged attack. [Source]
