Elephants in frozen Siberian forest survive by hitting the vodka

12/14/2012

When a circus trailer carrying two elephants caught fire in a freezing Siberian forest, trainers were concerned how the animals could survive the bitter cold as they waited for a truck to rescue them. So they decided to give the animals vodka. Lots of vodka. The 45-year-old and 48-year-old elephants consumed 2.6 gallons of vodka diluted with warm water and only suffered frostbite to the tips of their ears. "They started roaring like … they were in the jungle!” an official told Russia's Ria Novosti news agency. Or perhaps they were roaring to each other, "I just want to say I love you man. No, I do. I really do." [Source]
