Mom who superglued toddler's hands to wall pleads for leniency

10/11/2012

Potty training is frustrating business for parent and child, but a Texas mother did the unspeakable when the task overwhelmed her. Elizabeth Escalona not only admits to supergluing her 2-year-old daughter's hands to the wall, but also to hitting and kicking little Jocelyn Cedillo, resulting in bruising, fractures and bleeding in the brain. In court Wednesday, Escalona said, "Only a monster does that" when faced with photos of the damage. "I love my kids," she said, pleading for leniency on the grounds that she's changed. "I want everybody to know I'm not a monster." This week Escalona will be sentenced for her despicable parenting skills and could end up with anything from probation to life in prison. [Source]
