91-year-old woman sells everything she owns to bury the man she loved
2/17/2013How far would you go to keep a promise? For Elsie Smith of Arlington, Wash., her word is worth everything she owns. Before Smith's husband Joe died, he made her promise that he would be buried, not cremated. Unfortunately, Elsie has just about $9 to her name after the expensive treatment of her husband's Alzheimer's for the last two years. The funeral service will cost an estimated $3,000, and at 91 years old, Elsie has no family or friends remaining, so she's selling all her earthly possessions to provide for Joe's concerns in the afterlife. Now that's devotion. On Thursday, Smith moved to the Regency Care Center for full-time care. [Source]
