Elvis is still alive — as a genetically engineered mouse
7/12/2012Don't be surprised if you find a hip-shakin' mouse with a pompadour nibbling your cheese. Koby Barhad, a graduate student from Britain's Royal College of Art, says he's bred genetically engineered mice using the DNA of Elvis Presley. Barhad bought a sample of Elvis's hair (from eBay, so who knows if it's the real deal), had a biolab sequence the King's DNA, then had another specialized laboratory produce a mouse with the music icon's genetic make-up. It gets even weirder: Barhad also concocted a string of experiments so the mice could mimic Elvis's life, including subjecting them to a mirror to inflate their sense of self-importance. There's no word yet on what the singing voices of the mice are like.
