Pvt. Emily Tomkins, a British Army combat medic, got an unusual request while helping a fellow soldier who had been gravely wounded by a Taliban bomb blast in Afghanistan: "Show me your boobs." The soldier lost both his legs in the explosion, and Tomkins worked to stop the bleeding before pulling him to safety. As she worked on the wounded man, Tomkins said she couldn't give him a second shot of morphine to kill the pain. "Well, do something useful, and show me your boobs," he replied. Tomkins declined, shrugging off his request. "I was just doing my job," she said later. And doing it well — her bravery earned her a Mention in Despatches, which means her heroics were recounted to her commanding officers. [Source]
