Enterprising gladiators protest by climbing Colosseum
4/8/2012Maybe there is no modern day Spartacus out there, but a gladiator has to make a buck -- even if he's a fake gladiator. Several Romans dressed in Third Servile War-era garb climbed the Colosseum on Saturday to protest a police crackdown on their unauthorized enterprise of posing for pictures with tourists. It seems the visitors are more than happy to get a snapshot with characters who evoke the spirit of Ancient Rome, but not so happy when the pretend gladiators ask for payment. It sounds like there should be a crackdown on cheap tourists instead.
Should the actors be able to charge for pictures?
