ESPN showed pro bowler kissing husband after winning
1/3/2013Over the weekend, ESPN showed a pro bowler kissing his spouse after winning a tournament. No big. Except that possibly for the first time, the network showed a pro athlete celebrating a victory with his husband. After Scott Norton won the 2012 PBA Chameleon Championship (which took place in November, but was aired Sunday), he broke into tears in memory of a friend who had died, then embraced and kissed his husband, Craig Woodward. Credit to the broadcast team for repeatedly (and nonchalantly) referring to Woodward as Norton’s husband or spouse during the telecast, and to ESPN for not shying away from showing their affectionate exchange. Aw.
