Now there's a species of bee named after 'The Big Bang Theory'
1/3/2013Count Brazilian biologist Andre Nemesio among the thousands of fans of CBS's "The Big Bang Theory." He likes "clever, funny 'nerd' character" Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) catchphrase "Bazinga!" so much that he gave a species of orchid bee the scientific name, Euglossa bazinga. "Big Bang" co-executive producer Steven Molaro said he was "extremely flattered" by Nemesio's choice, adding that "Sheldon would be honored to know that Euglossa bazinga was inspired by him. In fact, after 'Mothra' and griffins, bees are his third-favorite flying creatures." [Source]
