Everyone wants to eat meat on a spit after 'Avengers' joke

A throwaway joke in "The Avengers" has Middle Eastern-style meat vendors seeing green. Early in the blockbuster film, Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man jokingly asks the titular good guys if they'd like to "get a shawarma," and fanatic filmgoers who sat through the closing credits saw the gang munching on, yep, shawarma-stuffed sandwiches. Los Angeles-area shawarma shops saw sales go "through the roof" last weekend, similar to when sales spiked after a baba ghanoush joke in Adam Sandler's "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" in 2008. Wait, somebody actually saw "You Don't Mess With the Zohan"? This never would have happened if the Avengers were real.
