Existence of 'God particle' may be confirmed
7/2/2012The "God particle." The name calls to mind fantastical sci-fi novels and romantic metaphysical musings. Space lovers and astronerds have debated its existence for years but never been able to prove it. Yet, if an announcement of the particle (known formally as the Higgs boson) goes down Wednesday as some are predicting, it will create an explosion within the scientific community far louder than any Fourth of July fireworks. The discovery would shed unprecedented light on the origins of the universe and mark one of the most significant advances in physics in decades. Of course, it could be another false alarm. But we're still on standby with our CERN live feeds just the same.
Do you think researchers have found the elusive Higgs boson?
