F-22s are sucking the oxygen out of pilots, mechanics
5/10/2012When 25 pilots who flew the F-22 Raptor reported that they felt like they were suffering from oxygen deficiency, the Air Force thought the problems were related either to the planes' speed or to the pilots' oxygen masks. Then five mechanics -- who were on the ground, without the need for oxygen masks -- reported the same symptoms after working on the F-22. Now the Air Force either doesn't know what's causing the illnesses or it's not saying. "I can't answer that at this time," General Daniel Wyman said curtly. The F-22 fleet, which is faster than the F-15 and F-16, was grounded in 2011. Despite that order being lifted, two pilots have said they'll never fly one again.
What do you think might be causing these symptoms?
