One little status update is all it takes to get fired these days
1/24/2013Facebook: It's better than wishing on a star. When Amy McClenathan posted that she "wish[ed she] could get fired some days, it would be easier to be at home than to have to go through this," her boss made sure that dream came true — the very next day. McClenathan, who said she wrote the post during a rough day near the anniversary of her mother's death, is hardly the only employee to get the sack thanks to social media: An Arizona Daily Star reporter was fired after tweeting sarcastically about his hometown's murder rate. (One read: "You stay homicidal, Tucson.") Moral of the stories? Keep your job angst off the Internet — unless you really do want to get fired. [Source]
