Falcons thwart huge Seahawks comeback to reach NFC title game
1/13/2013For the second week in a row, the Seattle Seahawks spotted a playoff opponent a big lead and launched a relentless comeback. But this time the Atlanta Falcons had the answer. Two passes from Matt Ryan to Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzales put the Falcons in field goal range, and Matt Bryant drilled a 49-yard kick for a 30-28 victory with less than 10 seconds left, sending next week's NFC championship game against the 49ers to Atlanta. The Seahawks — whose loss ruined election guru Nate Silver's Super Bowl prediction — stormed back from a 20-0 halftime deficit to take the lead with 31 seconds left, sparked by the arm of rookie Russell Wilson, who passed for 385 yards.
