2011 was a horrible year for TVs falling on children
12/13/2012Parents, hold your children close. There are a lot of dangers out there in the big, bad world, but you probably didn't expect a falling TV to be one of them. A new report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reveals that 29 people, mostly kids, were killed in 2011 from falling television sets (more than 200 kids have been killed since the year 2000). The 2011 stats make that year one of the worst on record for falling-television-related deaths. A commission spokeswoman says that as families get newer, lighter flat-screen TVs, they're putting their older, heftier sets on furniture that isn't equipped to hold the weight. [Source]
