The family that smokes on the plane together gets arrested together
2/4/2013A family that reportedly refused to stop smoking on a Sunwing flight from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to the Dominican Republic stars in our latest installment of "Jerks on Planes." A couple and their 22-year-old son were supposedly nabbed puffing away in the lavatory and refused to tell flight attendants where they'd stashed their butts or if they'd hidden other cigarettes. Cue diversion to Bermuda, the family's arrest and a thorough aircraft search. By the time a Sunwing mechanic was able to check the plane, flight crew members were due their 12-hour break, so all 170 passengers (plus the crew) had to be put up in a hotel. The smokers are out on bail, but their passports have been seized. [Source]
