No more free rides: FBI conducts huge raid on Scooter Store HQ
2/22/2013Disappointingly, it seems that when 150 federal and state law enforcement agents raided The Scooter Store headquarters in New Braunfels, Texas, no one made a slow yet comfortable getaway on a power chair. The FBI hasn't provided any details about their investigation into America's biggest provider of personal mobility devices, but a CBS This Morning exposé detailed how The Scooter Store allegedly persuades doctors to prescribe mobility scooters for patients on Medicare or Medicaid, even if they don't really need one. The Scooter Store then bills the government for the scooter and the walking-averse get a sweet new free ride. Sounds like those glory days are over. [Source]
