Folks dead set on owning guns as FBI checks reach record highs

1/3/2013

The FBI has announced that late last year Americans set several new records for firearm background checks in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting. According to FBI data, 2.78 million checks were recorded in December 2012, breaking the previous record of 2.01 million set the previous month. The December figure represents a 49 percent increase on the same month in 2011 (1.86 million), which was also a record at the time. The total number of checks in 2012 hit 19.5 million. This too sets a new annual record, 19 percent more than 2011. [Source]
