Daredevil aims to cheat death with supersonic space jump
10/9/2012Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner is preparing for the jump of his life — from nearly 23 miles above the Earth to, hopefully, a safe landing in New Mexico. Baumgartner — a BASE jumper who's already made a series of lower leaps in preparation for this one — faces tremendous risks operating at such an altitude. Should everything go well, he'll experience six minutes of free fall before pulling his parachute. Should it not, "his blood could boil, brain burst and even ... his eyeballs [could] pop out." And all, of course, on YouTube. Here's hoping for a safe, PG-rated landing. [Source]
