The list of 'trendiest' foods for 2013 has some really gross stuff
12/31/2012It's officially 2013, which means it's time to start guessing what the biggest trends for the new year will be. One food commentator has made her best guesses about what will be on our plates and—we'll be honest—it sounds gross. According to NPR food commentator Bonny Wolf, 2013 will be the Year of Fermented Foods, which means chefs will be serving up helpings of sauerkraut, kombucha (fermented tea) and kimchi (fermented cabbage or other vegetables) because foods like these have probiotic qualities, coaxing your colon to make good bacteria. She also predicts that "Asian street food"—think pho, hot pots and fried rice—will be big hits. Um, remind us not to go to Wolf's house for dinner. [Source]
