Photoshopped? This new start-up can tell by the pixels
9/22/2012Any time a picture is posted on the Internet, you have just seconds before someone will claim it’s edited. Soon, though, those crusaders of Internet accuracy may be rendered obsolete by a new program called FourMatch. The project is a collaboration between former Adobe executive Kevin Connor and Hany Farid, a digital forensics expert. FourMatch works by checking for more than 70,000 "signatures" left behind by any hardware and software that may have edited the image. Connor says that the first product isn’t perfect yet, but "there are certain scenarios where it will be very valuable, particularly in the law enforcement space." [Source]
