Pollution is good for the environment after all, says Fox News
7/16/2012Fox News has a reputation for making claims that can be politely described as "outrageous," but this one takes the cake. Last week, the program "America's Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Martha MacCallum" reportedly aired a segment which said high levels of carbon in the atmosphere made trees in south-eastern regions of the U.S. grow faster. Therefore: Yay, pollution! The segment was based on a study by Auburn University, Ala., which did suggest pollution speeds up tree growth — but which concluded that pollution is ultimately very bad for the environment in the long run.
