Painter proves driver's license agency has no eye for art

12/17/2012

Remember how artistic you felt way back when after doctoring your ID to appear 21? (Not us — we'd never!) Fredrik Saker, a 29-year-old Swedish artist, just put your White-Out skills to shame, passing off a painstakingly painted self-portrait — dubbed "This Is Not Me" in a wink to Magritte — as a photo. Saker's artwork was so legit-looking that it fooled the Swedish Transport Board into OKing the image for his driver's license. The secret to Saker's success: making his painting unflattering. "I don't look good ... I am having a bad hair day," he told the BBC. "None of my friends ever says, 'Look at my driving license, don't I look good?" Genius. [Source]
